Dr. Brandon Spletzer is a licensed Naturopathic Physician in British Columbia. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology and he went on to become a Naturopathic Physician after the four year program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.

Dr. Spletzer has a very special focus on prevention and treatment of Traumatic Brain Injuries (mTBI) as well as digestive complaints such as Small Bacterial Intestinal Overgrowth (SIBO). Through extensive research, Dr. Spletzer has found many therapeutic targets in order to promote healing and prevent damage in the brain following a mTBI. He found through experience that SIBO (and IBS) was a common symptoms following mTBI and traced the scientific relationship between the two. By treating and improving digestion, he found that mTBI patients were seeing a reduction in symptoms and they were recovering faster. Since then, he has been using this holistic approach and the gut-brain connection to help all of his patients. In 2016, Dr. Spletzer and three other Naturopathic Physicians co-founded SIBODoctors.ca in order to help patients find qualified Naturopathic Physicians that can test, diagnose, and effectively treat SIBO.

Dr. Spletzer has always held education to be an important part of his life from an early age. His grandparents were retired teachers and they spend the first 5 years of his life teaching him as much as they could. From there, he went on to begin schooling in french immersion and graduated from high school with his Dogwood in English and French.

Dr. Spletzer spent much of his free time in high school playing on various sports teams, such as football, basketball and soccer. In his senior year, they won the provincial football championship for AAA boys program. Since then, he has coached and continues to play whenever possible. His love for sports, including the competition and the inherent injuries that come with it, has given him an appreciation for optimal health and injury prevention.

Dr. Spletzer completed his undergraduate work at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC, while studying Science and Kinesiology. While going to school, he worked full time in the manufacturing and photography industries. This experience cultivated an appreciation for the arts, in addition to his science background. After graduating with his BSc in Kinesiology, he took one year off school and during that time, he and his spouse traveled. Finally, Dr. Spletzer began the last leg of his journey to become a primary health provider. During the four year program of Naturopathic Medical School he and his spouse had a daughter and then in 2016, they welcomed their son into the family.

Dr. Spletzer believes medicine is a Regenerative art form, something the body is capable of doing with a subtle push from both, doctor and patient. This type of medicine requires trust between doctor and patient, and both need to work together to optimize health and reach the patients ultimate goal. Using evidence based medicine, it is Dr. Spletzer's passion to provide the best environment for healing.

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

Naturopathic Physicians are licensed primary health care practitioners that can diagnose conditions, perform physical exams, and treat patients as a whole by going to the root cause.

The unique thing about Naturopathic Physicians is that they are able to utilize various different modalities to help people restore optimal health. In British Columbia, they are licensed to use dietary counselling, herbal prescriptions, traditional Chinese medicine, spinal manipulations and adjustments, basic and advanced injections, intravenous therapies, along with access rights to labs and pharmacy.
